About

About the brass|STUDENT PROGRAM:

The brass|STUDENT PROGRAM is an initiative to strengthen high school students' understanding of the money side of life™. The program offers print and online resources to public high school students and teachers, to make money interesting and relevant in the classroom.

The brass|STUDENT PROGRAM is made up of three integrated components:

  • A Student Edition of brass|MAGAZINE: a lifestyle magazine with a money twist. The magazine is produced for young adults, by young adults, with relevant content for classroom discussions and activities. Through the Student Program, each public high school in supporting states receives classroom copies of brass.
  • The Teacher Resource Center: an online social networking site for educators centered around helping students understand the money side of life™. This interactive site features a blog and interactive forums, along with classroom activities that complement brass articles.
  • The Student Resource Center : a website that currently features an online college scholarship database with national scholarships. The website will also include useful student resources about money and enhanced opportunities for students to submit original content to brass|MAGAZINE.

The Student Program launched in New York State in August 2006, at the request of hundreds of teachers who wanted to use brass|MAGAZINE in their classrooms. Wisconsin introduced the program in every public high school in September 2007. Oregon high schools will begin using the Student Program in Fall 2008.
